Jamie T

Is this guy a chav? I can't tell. I think he's a cross between Pete Doherty and Mike Skinner. His debut album Panic Prevention is being released at the end of the month and from one listen I can tell you it's pretty ordinary. But having said that there are two gems that you might want to check out. The insanely catchy If You Got The Money and the Streetsish Calm Down Dearest.

Jamie T - If You Got The Money (5.5mb)
Jamie T - Calm Down Dearest (4.4mb)

Mumm-Ra

Mumm-Ra are a six piece band from a little town in East Sussex called Bexhill-on-Sea. According to my research these guys have been playing together for about 5 or 6 years. I haven't heard that much from them to be honest but I checked out a live video of them on YouTube and they were rocking, they look like a great live act. I'm not too sure when their debut album is being released but with a spot on the NME Shockwaves tour I think we're going to be hearing a little bit more from these six lads.

Mumm-Ra - These Things Move In Threes (4.8mb)

The Format

To me The Format are mildly mysterious, mainly because I know next to nothing about them except for the fact that they are from Phoenix, Arizona. I am really digging their latest record Dog Problems, it is really upbeat well crafted catchy pop music. Admittedly I may have been a little late getting on the bandwagon with these guys but now I'm on it I ain't getting off. As far as I can figure out The Format seemed to be backed up heavily by session musicians and/or friends. But the two geezers in the photo above are Sam Means and Nate Ruess and they are the principal minds behind the project. Just recently the band released a cover of The Kinks song Apeman. And I gotta tell ya.. It's great man.

The Format - Apeman (5.4mb)
The Format - Dead End (5.9mb)

Klaxons

So-called 'new rave' lads from London, Klaxons are the latest thing to be hyped up by the NME. They have their eagerly anticipated debut album being released at the end of this month which should prove to be quite the hit if you can believe the hype. I haven't really made up my mind about this whole new rave thing but I do know that I fancy Klaxons, particularly the tune Golden Skans which they are releasing as a single in a couple of weeks.

Klaxons - Golden Skans (4.4mb)
Klaxons - Golden Skans (Live Acoustic) (4.3mb)
Klaxons - Atlantis to Interzone (Live Acoustic) (3.9mb)
